Introduction offer for one week
in the Provence, for groups of 7-9 people at € 280 p.p. pr. week,
half board
Discover this beautiful part of
the Provence by bicycle: hilly country side with flat stretches for
moderate to advanced levels. Every tour is adapted to your
individual levels and needs.
Cycle through picturesque
villages like Cotignac, Tourtour and Aups. Your hosts Vivien and
Leif, seasoned semi-professional cyclists themselves and members of
the Bicycle Club of Carces, will highlight the most beautiful parts
of their Provence, which take you off the beaten track down smaller
country roads and lanes which took them years to discover, and they
are willing to share with you. They know the best routes from
first-hand experience and thus are able to show you different
routes, for all levels of bicycling.
All tours are self-guided, with
all necessary maps and material provided by Vivian & Leif. For a
small fee (depending on length of tour) Vivian or Leif will be your
personal guide for one or more days.
Tours of 30, 60, 90 to 120

We
suggest several tours:
Historic Villages of the Var 93km This tour takes you
down country lanes to Le Thoronet, past the Abbaye du Thoronet to
Carcés, to the typical Provencal village of Cotignac, up into the
more isolated part of the Provence towards Fox-Amphoux, a perched
village visible from afar, then to Salernes and back to
Entrecasteaux.
The Bauxit Tour 80,5km This tour takes you through rosé wine country
to the beautiful village of Bras, up through oak tree forests to
Brue-Auriac, to the market town of Barjols, then the back roads to
Correns (first bio village in France) and back to
Carces
The Balconies of the
Var 60km
(plus 25km)
This tour starts in Villecroze,
located 12,5 km from Maison Marianel, i.e. add 25 km to the length
of the tour. Through gently rolling country side to Lorgues and then
onto Taradeau, then to Ampus and up to the perched village of
Tourtour, to then end this tour in Villecroze.
Mont Ventoux
1912m For the advanced bicyclists we offer a tour up the famous
Mont Ventoux, one stop along the Tour de France. Mont Ventoux stands alone in
the middle of southern France, near Avignon. The
highest isolated mountain in France, Mont Ventoux has a unique and
somewhat eerie limestone “moonscape” at the top and lush provençal
terrain at the bottom. Its vegetation and landscapes
vary according to the altitude: 400 different flowers and more than
a thousand types of plants adorn its slopes over five levels between
400 and 1900 metres. There are four different
routes up the "Giant of Provence": the Eastern slope
by Sault - the least difficult climb – a 1220 metre rise over 26
kilometres. 20 km of shaded road, of false rising summits (3,5%) and
climbs (5-6%), on a well-tended road. At 1410m one comes out of the
forest to discover a lunar-like landscape and joins the Bédoin road.
The last 6 kilometres are at +/-9% the southern ascent by
Bédoin - part
of the Tour de France and the most difficult: a 1610 metre climb
over 21,5 km (+/-7,5%). Between Bédoin and Chalet Reynard, there is
a 6 km climb, then 9 kilometres between 8,5 and 10,7 % the
Northern ascent by Malaucène - a 1535 m climb over 21km
(+/-7,3%). An easier ride than the others on a recently re-surfaced
road. Magnificent views on a slope which is protected from the
southerly winds.
Please arrange this tour in
advance with your hosts so they can organize transportation to Mont
Ventoux.
